Pete's compassion and kindness are very evident in his posts and it's no suprise so many people are praying for him and wishing him well.
Tell him to hang on in there, we need all the good guys like him.
Good luck Pete.

Update

Dad has now had his Tracheostomy (hooray, I spelt it right that time!). He is being kept on a vent machine which is controlling his breathing, and is far more alert than he was, although still very tired. He is still linked up to most of the monitors, and under constant watch from the nurses, and is fighting the infections well.

Mum read all your messages to him, and he was very touched to know so many are thinking of him.

I have to relay a message however - he is disappointed that when he slipped unconscious there was no white light. He did however see a teddy, a golly, and a strange bloke who said "You're my wife now"...

He also feels a bit like a balloon... I think he is attempting to see if he can manage to blow the sheets off the bed.

It's good to see he still has his sense of humour even though he's obviously got a fair way to get before he would be ready to come home.

I will keep you all posted about his progress, and keep checking this thread now and then for any new messages anyone wants to send. Smile

Matt

That's excellent news Matt,thank you.
What a relief that he has finally got the trach and vent,I have been so worried this last couple of days.
There must be some deep psychological meaning to the things that Pete saw............but I ain't even going there! Laughing

Pete,
Even from your hospital bed,you can still make us laugh.
Take care and hope you have a speedy recovery. We'll keep your seat warm in the forum and chat room until your back with us. Very Happy

Thanks Matt - brilliant news. I'm glad your dad got the Trach. he wanted..... shame he had to go to such great lengths to get it! I'm sure he'll see the irony of his situation! He just needs to keep fighting the infection now.

Jeannie - sometimes the power of prayer is truly amazing.

Brilliant stuff Matt. Let us know how Pete is doing with using a computer, I know you've got some wizardy but if anything gets too difficult we might think of an Assistive Technology field trip?

Pete,

I hope you heard the big sigh of relief from the far side of the "pond". I gather the British Health Service has to think you're serious before they act on what you want.
